Dean Wu Jianli of IBC was invited to participate in the "U.S.-China Education Think Tank Dialogue" and delivered a keynote speech

From June 7th to 9th, 2016, Beijing were shrouded by sunny days, and the "U.S.-China Education Think Tank Dialogue" was held here. This was a supplementary activity of the seventh U.S.-China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE). It was sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences and co-organized by the US National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE). With the theme of "Educational research, Decision-making, and Innovation in the Knowledge-Based Economy", Mrs Wu was invited to participate in this dialogue and delivered a keynote speech entitled "International Curriculum Innovation and Modern Educational Technology", which has aroused great concern and won wide applause from scholars both at home and abroad.

Hao Ping, Vice-Minister of Chinese Ministry of Education attended the opening ceremony of this dialogue and delivered a speech. He put forward three initiatives: first, to strengthen the educational exchange activity ties between China and the United States, enhance the ability of educational think tanks in promoting two country’s state politics; second, to improve the dialogue mechanism and strive to make contributions to the new Sino-US relationship between two major powers; and third is to work together for world education reform and the harmonious development of mankind.

This dialogue has been highly valued by both Chinese and American governments, universities and educational research institutions. Quite a lot of both sides’ institutions were involved in it. As far as U.S. concerned, there are Center for Global Education Innovation of Harvard University; U.S. National Center for Policy Research; California State University, Northridge; University of Northern Colorado; U.S. Institute for Innovation in Education etc. For Chinese part, institutions include the Center for Education Development Research of the Ministry of Education; Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, Shandong Provincial Institute of Education Sciences and so forth.

The dialogue focused on the 21st student competencies, educational innovation, youth employment and entrepreneurship education, regional education reform and innovation, teacher quality and education quality evaluation and other topics. In order to promote the full exchanges and coordinated development of education between China and the United States, educational practitioners, researchers, and education decision-makers of two countries have fully exchanged views on latest policies, development trends, research achievement and fist-class experience in think tank construction concerning modern education. More than 100 scholars and education officials from Chinese and American educational research institutions, educational administrative departments, universities, middle and primary schools attended the event.

In addition, under the topic of “Innovation of Curriculum Internationalization and Modern Educational Technology”, Dean Wu firstly shared with the present experts the IBC’s practice and innovation course in the four aspects of curriculum objectives, curriculum construction, curriculum implementation and internationalization of curriculum evaluation. Then she expounded the difficulties and key points of international curriculum innovation. Looking into the future, she elaborated the vision of the construction of a scientific system for the localization of international courses and the internationalization of local courses.
