In the afternoon of May 10, 14:00-17:00, with the support of the Organizing Committee of the MODEL APEC Competition, the 2018 MODEL APEC South China Normal University Trial Competition organized by the International Business College of South China Normal University was successfully held in the Real Creation Center on the third floor of the comprehensive building. Yang Chao, Zhao Lili, He Wenli and Huang Wei were invited as judges in the competition. Liu Chunchan, Wu Lingfang, Liang Gengxiong and Wu Mianru of the College's Student Affairs Office also attended this competition which aims for young people, fastens the Asia-Pacific region and lets students talk about the future freely.

At the highly simulated all-English conference, 22 contestants were divided into two groups to discuss the topics of “Promoting Digital Capacity-Building of Start-ups” and “Strengthening the International Development of Start-ups” respectively. And they spoke actively on behalf of contestants from major economies in the Asia-Pacific region. In the first part of the competition, the delegates put forward their opinions and suggestions in fluent English; in the second part, under the auspices of the chairperson of the meeting, a wonderful discussion was launched. All parties expressed their opinions and tried to reach a consensus, which showed the elegant demeanor of the new generation of young people to shoulder their national responsibilities. The perfect performance of the contestants was praised by the judge Yang Chao, and she said: “The contestants prepared very well, and in the process of seeking cooperation and consensus, they have put forward many proposals with an international vision.”

Among them, the first five contestants were successfully promoted and selected to participate in the 2018 MODEL APEC regional trials in South-Central China. At this point, the 2018 MODEL APEC South China Normal University campus trials have successfully concluded.

The International Business College hosted the MODEL APEC campus trial for the first time. This competition broadened the students’ international horizons, exercised their thinking and expression skills, and allowed more people to see APEC in the eyes of young people and hear about the new economic forces in the Asia-Pacific region. The suggestions and opinions on future development are of far-reaching significance.
