US top education evaluation expert Gary Miron visited the International Business College to hold lectures and workshops

On November 28th, Gary Miron, professor at Western Michigan University and the top ten influential expert in the field of education policy in the United States, was invited to the International Business College (IBC) to give a lecture entitled "Internationalization Evaluation of Higher Education ". On the workshop, participants learned about the practical application of the evaluation logic model. The lecture and workshop were hosted by Professor Wu Jianli, Dean of IBC. Professor Li Shengbing, Director from the Institute of Higher Education, the School of Educational Sciences; and Professor Zhang Hongyan from the College of Foreign Studies of Jinan University were invited to attend. More than 30 teachers from all departments of IBC participated in the lecture, which lasted four and a half hours.

Professor Miron systematically expounds the connotation of the internationalization of higher education from the aspects as institutional strategic blueprint, management structure, staffing, curriculum provision and evaluation, support for faculty, student exchange, and cooperation partners etc. He demonstrated the status quo of the internationalization of higher education at different levels in America. It worth noting that Professor Miron also took the concept of evaluation as a starting point to introduce the purpose, means as well as possible obstacles concerning evaluation. Through numerous logical models of evaluation and case analysis, Miron also elaborated the use of evaluation model.

At the workshop, Professor Miron organized group discussions with the teachers present, using the theory mentioned in the lecture to establish a logical model of IBC’s evaluation, and analyzed both the input and output of IBC’s programs; as well as the short, medium and long term objectives through specific evaluation models. Participants deeply felt the charm of the evaluation logic model.

Finally, Professor Miron said that he had determined to take IBC as a research case for his doctoral students to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for the evaluation and evaluation of the international business school, so as to improve the construction of teachers, teaching management, talents training and other aspects to promote the international running and development of IBC.
