The 2017 International Forum on China-Foreign Cooperative Education was Held in SCNU

On May 12th, the 2017 International Forum on China-Foreign Cooperative Education was held in Nanhai Campus of South China normal University. The forum was hosted by South China Normal University and undertaken by the International Business College and International Cooperative Education and Research Center of the university.

The theme of this forum was “Design and Evaluation of Educational Internationalization”. The participating experts and representatives conducted in-depth discussions and exchanged on such topics as “the path and design of the evaluation of educational internationalization, the development orientation and mechanism innovation of China-foreign cooperation in running schools in the new era, the challenges faced by the performance evaluation of educational internationalization, and the internationalization of teachers”. And they took the internationalization scheme design and implementation of universities and secondary colleges as cases to carry out workshop activities. Experts invited to attend the forum were: Professor Gary Miron, National Center for Educational Policy Research, University of Western Michigan, USA; Dr. Gao Yuan, International Research Center for Education system, University of Victoria, Australia; Dr. Dustin Anderson, University of Western Michigan, United States; and Mr. Zong Wa, Deputy Secretary-General of China Education Association for International Exchange. Professor Lin Jinhui, Director of the China-Foreign Cooperative School Running Research Center of Xiamen University and Chairman of the Chinese Society of Higher Education; Professor Wu Jian, Vice President of South China Normal University; Dr. Xiong Jianhui, full-time researcher of the Education Development Research Center of the Ministry of Education; Professor Li Sheng Bing, Director of the Institute of higher Education, School of Education and Science, South China Normal University; Professor Wu Jianli, Dean of the International Business College of South China Normal University. The forum also attracted nearly 100 representatives from 32 colleges and universities and some educational institutions from 14 provinces and cities across the country.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Dai Shu, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division of South China Normal University. Professor Wu Jian, Vice President of South China Normal University, and Feng Beiling, Vice President of Zhongjiao Weilai International Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. delivered speeches. In the forum on May 12, nine experts delivered keynote speeches, sharing cutting-edge research results in the design and evaluation of education internationalization. There were two parallel workshops on the morning of May 13th. In the first workshop, hosted by Professor Miron and Dr. Dustin, workshop activities were carried out around the two topics of “Research and Development of International Evaluation Program” and “Creation of Evaluation Data Collection Tools”. The theme of the second workshop was “University and Secondary College International Design and Evaluation”. Professor Shen Jie, Deputy Director of the Graduate Department of Zhejiang University, and Associate Professor Chai Shaoming, Vice Dean of the International Business College of South China Normal University, spoke in relation to their respective schools and colleges, shared the planning and implementation of education internationalization, talent training and curriculum internationalization, and conducted in-depth and extensive discussions with participants on related issues.

          The International Business College of South China Normal University adheres to the path of internationalization and it is based on the forefront of the internationalization of education. It attaches great importance to cultivating elite talents with a global perspective, a sense of social responsibility, and mastery of business expertise and practical capabilities. Through this conference, the participants had a deeper understanding of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, the internationalization of education and its design and evaluation, the internationalization of local universities, the internationalization of colleges, and the internationalization of teachers. They were not only aware of the new connotations of internationalization with new understanding and new thinking, and further understanding of the current status and trends of international and domestic education development. Experts and scholars at the conference praised the significance of this forum and brought wisdom from all sides to the design of education internationalization program and the ideas of international cooperation in running schools.
