The Construction of the International Business College of South China Normal University—KPMG's Provincial Off-Campus Practice Base Project Successfully Passed the Acceptance of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education

The off-campus practice base for college students in Guangdong Province, jointly built by the International Business College of South China Normal University and the KPMG KDC Global Service Center, which has achieved remarkable results through more than three years of construction, and has recently passed the examination and acceptance organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. It has officially become the off-campus practice base for provincial college students.

KPMG is a professional services organization with a global network, specializing in auditing, taxation and consulting services. KPMG China has 17 offices in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Foshan, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau. KPMG China opened a shared service center-KPMG Service Center (KDC) in the Financial High-tech Zone of Guangdong Province in July 2013 to provide strong support for frontline professionals and logistics teams. Through advanced technology and processes to promote the standardization and modernization of the system, KDC will integrate and transfer part of the logistics work to help front-line professionals to improve service efficiency, so that KPMG professionals can invest in high value-added work.

South China Normal University had contacted and communicated with KPMG Certified Public Accountants since July 2011 to discuss plans for establishing a practice base; in December, it signed an agreement with KPMG Accounting to establish an off-campus practice base; the first batch of 28 Students went to Guangzhou KPMG for internships from February to March 2012; from January to March 2013, 45 financial management students went to Guangzhou and Shenzhen KPMG for internships; from January to March 2014, 63 financial management students went to Foshan’s KPMG Global Data Sharing Center for internships; From January to March 2015, 83 financial management students went to Foshan KPMG Global Data Sharing Center for internships; from January to March 2017, 79 financial management students went to Foshan KPMG Global Data Sharing Center for internships.

Since the International Business College and KPMG cooperated to build an provincial off-campus practice base for university students in 2014, it has organized students to visit the KPMG Global Data Sharing Center in Foshan for many times. The KPMG Global Data Sharing Center in Foshan also regularly or irregularly goes to the International Business College for campus presentations and on-the-job training before internships. The company's management team also actively participate in the teaching evaluation of the International Business College, and the revision and demonstration of talent training, which has played a positive role in promoting the quality of talent training in our school. The college also hires KPMG senior management and professional technical talents as outside practice guidance experts to guide students' practice and internships. At present, South China Normal University, University of Aberdeen and KPMG Data Sharing Center are negotiating to build an international practice base to build a higher level of platform for cultivating international application-oriented talents. In addition, relying on this practice base, South China Normal University is exploring in-depth cooperation with the Guangdong Financial High-tech Zone, and establishing a wider range of exchanges and cooperation in teaching, scientific research and practice.

        Through the construction and development of the two parties, the base has become a test base for the reform of our school's financial management professional training model and a demonstration base for the training of financial application-oriented talents, and comprehensively improves the quality of training students with a degree in financial management at the International Business College. In the next step, students majoring in Sino-UK cooperative finance program will also go to the base for practical internships, and the two parties will work together to build the base into a model university off-campus practice base.
